The Iron entered their home clash with Reading making four changes from the side that drew at Yeovil.
Luke O'Neill missed out due to being cup-tied so was replaced by Eddie Nolan at right-back, while Jennison Myrie-Williams missed out through injury and was replaced by Hakeeb Adelakun.Meanwhile, Matt Sparrow had been struggling with a knock and is replaced by Sean McAllister.
Gary McSheffrey came in for Lyle Taylor in the final change.
Bobby Olejnik started in goal, with Nolan, Miles Addison, Niall Canavan and Marcus Williams forming the defence.
The midfield consisted of Terry Hawkridge, Neal Bishop and McAllister, with Adelakun and McSheffrey supporting Madden up front.
