TALKS ON HOLD

17 April 2014

United boss Russ Wilcox has admitted discussions with academy players regarding their futures have been put on hold with just four games of the League Two season remaining.

With the season drawing to a conclusion, the Iron currently sit seven points clear of fourth-placed Fleetwood Town as they look to secure a return to League One at the first time of asking.

That means a number of other club matters have been put on the back-burner, including talks with second-year scholars who have already completed their youth season, and Wilcox told The Iron Player: “That will be addressed soon, but not at the moment.

“It’s the same with everything else really. We have to wait and see where we are, league-wise. I think the games coming up are too important, so it’s not the right time to be sitting people down.

“There’s still lots of work to do. It’s something we’ll look at, but it’s not at the front of my mind.”
