Saturday’s trip to Plainmoor sees the Iron take on a Torquay United side that sits bottom of the League Two table.

The Gulls have won just two of their last 12 matches while losing their last three.

There has been 63 meetings between the sides in total, and it’s Scunthorpe who have the better head-to-head record with 30 wins to Torquay’s 16, while the other 17 finished level.

Both Gary McSheffrey (hamstring) and Sean McAllister (rib) are set to miss out for the Iron, although Michael Collins has returned from AFC Wimbledon and could feature.

Marcus Williams should also be fit to play once again after training on Thursday, while Deon Burton may also make the trip to Devon.

Shaun Cooper could be in line for his long-awaited Gulls debut while Danny Cooper is also back from the sidelines.

On-loan Tottenham youngster Shaquile Coulthirst will also be pushing for a call-up.

New signing Baily Cargill is likely to be checked on ahead of the Iron’s visit.

And Shamir Goodwin will serve the final of a three-match ban, while Joss Labadie remains suspended.

“The reality has been different and the reality has disappointed me, but my desire to do well and produce players hasn’t diminished one percent.”
