PREVIEW: OXFORD UNITED (H)

20 April 2014

Easter Monday’s game at Glanford Park sees the Iron take on an Oxford United side that sit just two points outside the League Two play-off places.

Gary Waddock’s side slipped out of the top seven as a result of their 1-0 defeat to York City on Good Friday.

And they head into the contest having won just once in their last five, albeit that victory coming away from home at Plymouth Argyle two games ago.

There has been 19 meetings between the sides over the years, and Scunthorpe edge the head-to-head record with eight wins to the Us’ five, while the other six finished level.

Team News: Scunthorpe United...

Iron boss Russ Wilcox has no fresh injury concerns ahead of Oxford’s visit.

Midfielder Sean McAllister looks set to miss out once again through a rib injury, though, as does Gary McSheffrey (hamstring).

However, Paul Hayes and Deon Burton will be pushing for a start.

Last line-up: Slocombe, Nolan, Canavan, Mirfin, Williams, Adelakun, Syers, Sparrow, Hawkridge, Winnall, Madden.

Team News: Oxford United...

Deane Smalley continues to struggle with a calf strain for the Us, although Alfie Potter, Sam Long and Andy Whing will all be pushing for a recall to the starting line-up after illness and injury problems.

Last line-up: Clarke, Hunt, Wright, Raynes, Newey, Williams, Ruffels, Wroe, O’Dowda, Constable, Kitson.
