LEAGUE TWO REVIEW: WEEK 35

15 April 2014

Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Bury was enough to move the Iron to the top of the League Two table.

Rochdale’s 3-0 defeat at Mansfield Town saw them slip down to second. Goals from Martin Riley, Matt Rhead and Ryan Tafazolli gave the Stags victory inside the final 20 minutes.

Torquay United were 2-1 winners at Bristol Rovers, with goals from Shaquile Coulthirst and Lee Mansell despite the hosts pulling one back through Danny Woodards.

Dagenham & Redbridge were beaten 4-1 at home to Portsmouth. Danny Hollands opened the scoring for Pompey before Michael Drennan doubled their lead. Abu Agogo pulled one back for the Daggers, but further goals from Drennan and Jed Wallace gave the visitors the points.

Chesterfield won 2-1 at Hartlepool United after coming from behind. Pools took the lead through Luke James although goals either side of half-time from Liam Cooper and Eoin Doyle turned it around for the Spireites.

Second-half goals from Christian Jolley and Chris Zebroski gave Newport County a 2-0 win over Wycombe Wanderers at Rodney Parade.

Oxford United were also 2-0 winners, beating Plymouth Argyle at Home Park. Dave Kitson and James Constable both struck for the Us, while the Pilgrims had Maxine Blanchard sent off.

AFC Wimbledon pick up a 1-0 win at Southend United courtesy of Jack Midson’s penalty.

A John Marquis strike fired Northampton Town to a 1-0 victory against Burton Albion at Sixfields Stadium.

And there were draws for Exeter City (1-1 at home to Cheltenham Town), Fleetwood Town (2-2 at home to Morecambe) and York City (1-1 at home to Accrington Stanley) in the latest round of Sky Bet League 2 fixtures.
