GETTING TO TORQUAY

4 April 2014

The Iron make their second longest journey of the season – after Plymouth Argyle – this weekend as they look to make it 25 games without defeat.

PLAINMOOR...
Scunthorpe fans who visit Plainmoor this weekend will arrive at a stadium with predominantly terracing, with only 2,950 of the 6,500 seated. One side of the ground was opened in July 2012 as a newly refurbished all-seater, costing £2m to build, with this stand housing the dressing rooms and press box.

1,100 visiting supporters can be housed in the Marsh Toyota Away Terrace at one end of the ground, while 500 seats can be made available if needed in the new stand. The facilities are basic, but there is a big opportunity to make a lot of noise, regardless of how many supporters travel to the stadium.

Word has it, they have a good quality catering outlet as well.

WHERE FANS CAN GO…
Behind the main stand, the supporters club called “Boots & Laces” allows away supporters in the ground. “The George Inn” on Babbacombe Road is also extremely welcoming before and after the game, located around ten minutes from the stadium, if you are walking.

On Princes Street, there is an awarded winning fish and chip shop called “Hanburys”, with the “Dog & Duck” also welcoming travelling support.

GETTING THERE...
If you’re leaving from Scunthorpe early on Saturday morning, prepare yourself for a long journey! Travelling out of Lincolnshire along the M180, M18 and M1, there is a lot of roadworks en route, due to the replacement of the central reservation.

You should eventually merge onto the M42, where more roadwork’s will be encountered between Worcester, Cheltenham and Gloucester. Eventually arriving in the Bristol area (where we would heartily recommend a brief diversion to Cribb’s Causeeway) travel to the end of the M5 before following the A38.

Turn left onto the A380 and then take the first exit at the Kingskerwell roundabout. Turn left towards Babbacombe and then left into Westhill Road for Warbro Road. The club is signposter well when you get close to the ground.

PARKING…
Street parking is readily invited around the stadium. A school is located on one side of the ground, with the school car park close by. There are also car parks for the Swimming Pool Centre and Bowls club, all of which are around the edges of the stadium.
