Under-18s preview: Lincoln City (H)

16 October 2020

Attention turns to the Youth Alliance Cup this Saturday, as the Iron's Under-18s take on Lincoln City at home (11am kick-off).

Please note, in line with the current EFL COVID-19 guidelines, no spectators are permitted at these games.

United took to the field for the first time in four weeks last weekend, but maintained their unbeaten start with a 4-2 win at Bradford City, making it two wins from two.

Joey Dawson has four goals in two games after bagging a hat-trick last weekend, inclusive of two penalties, while Harry Lewis was also on the scoresheet.

Lincoln come into the game following a 3-2 home defeat against Notts County last weekend. They're in fifth position with two wins out of four, while the Iron are fourth in that group.

Oldham Athletic are the other side in Group H of the Youth Alliance Cup with this fixture the first to take place this season.

The Iron's Under-18s have a smaller squad this season and had to welcome a number of Under-15s and Under-16s into the team last weekend.

Under-16s players Harry Griffin and Harry Elliott-Bell started last week, as did Harvey Cribb of the Under-15s, while Matthew Hewitt (Under-16s), George Burton and Finn Abraham (both Under-15s) were on the bench - the latter coming on in the final stages of the match.

Jack Moore-Billam, Oliver Kemp and Patrick Virgo all returned to training on Monday following illnesses that kept them out last week, while Ethan Young returned to the building on Tuesday after he was sidelined too.

Elsewhere, first-year Ben Franklin still misses out as he recovers from an ankle ligament injury, while Oliver Lobley has missed the latest action with a stomach injury. Ben Crosher returned to the bench last weekend after he missed the first game of the season through injury.
