Under-18s preview: Bradford City (A)

20 February 2020

The Iron’s Under-18s will take on Bradford City away this Saturday (12.30pm kick-off), as they prepare for their latest Youth Alliance League match.

The game will be played on the 4G pitch at Baysgarth School, Barrow Road, Barton-upon-Humber, England, DN18 6AE, and we'll have live coverage on the Academy Twitter site, in addition to a report and reaction from the fixture.

SCENE-SETTER

United's Under-18s returned to action following a two-and-a-half week break for a home game against Mansfield Town on Tuesday, which saw them lose 4-2.

Harry Jessop and Harry Baker were on target in what academy manager Tony Daws described as one of their best performances of the season, but they ultimately lost out.

The academy side were without four of their players, with Joey Dawson missing with a shin injury, Levi Gallimore absent through illness and goalkeepers Tom Collins and Ben Crosher out with thumb and wrist problems, respectively. Under-16s goalkeeper Jake Balme was in goal, while there was also a place on the bench for Harry Lewis, who is also at the same level.

Aidan Train pulled up in the warm-up in midweek, while Oliver Kemp also came off during that game with concussion. Charlie Barks also got injured in the final exchanges of the match.

The Iron sit second in the Youth Alliance League and seven points behind league leaders Doncaster Rovers, but have three games in hand on their local rivals.

LAST LINE-UP: Balme, Baker, Lobley, Shrimpton, Barks, Kemp (Silva, 42), Wilson, D Gallimore, Wilkinson (Virgo, 67), Jessop, Chadli (Lewis, 75).
