Grassroots Opportunities

At Scunthorpe United, we are committed to offering group booking packages for local youth groups, such as grassroots football teams. Each season, we offer flag bearing and big flag packages ahead of every single game.

We also hold an annual Grassroots Day, which has seen over 1,000 extra spectators attend the game as part of a special offer. See details of our latest one in 2019 here.

See below for special details of our packages and for contact details to find out more information.

Flag Bearing Packages

One of our most popular packages at Glanford Park, our flag bearing offering has gone from strength-to-strength with our local junior grassroots sides and has sold out for the last two campaigns.

The package sees adults enjoy a special group booking rate, while the coaches and players within the group can opt to enjoy a pre-match behind-the-scenes tour which involves them gaining access to otherwise restricted areas of the stadium ahead of kick-off.

This experience allows the young Iron supporters to get up close and personal with their Iron favourites, gaining autographs and pictures.

Furthermore, ahead of kick-off, the junior players are able to form a guard of honour with our Scunthorpe United flags as the two teams emerge for kick-off before enjoying the game from the Lincolnshire Co-op Family Zone of the SPB Stand.

Big Flag Packages

Our newest package at Glanford Park, the big flag package has already received a number of bookings for the 2018-19 season, with a number of teams already enjoying the benefits.

Furthermore, ahead of kick-off, the junior players are able to parade our large Scunthorpe United flag as the two teams emerge for kick-off before enjoying the game from the Lincolnshire Co-op Family Zone of the SPB Stand.

Grassroots Day

For the last three seasons, inclusive of the one coming up in 2019, the Iron have hosted a Grassroots Day at Glanford Park.

For a specifically allocated match day, United have invited local youth groups to the stadium as part of group booking packages with over 70 local junior football teams taking advantage of the offer most recently in January 2018.

In 2017, the day was held when Scunthorpe hosted Fleetwood Town, while in 2018 Gillingham were the visitors on the day. On both occasions, the event has boosted the overall attendance by around 1,000 people with a number of adults and under-18s arriving for their first ever live football matches.

Such is the success of the event, the club plans to continue offering these events once per season.

Details have been released for our Grassroots Day in 2019 - make sure you pencil the date into your diary! Saturday, February 9th, 2019 when the Iron play host to Accrington Stanley! See below for full details.
