The Iron completed the signing of left-back Scott Laird from Preston North End on a three-year deal in June 2015.
The 27-year-old joined Scunthorpe on a free transfer following a successful season with the Lilywhites which saw him make 42 appearances in all competitions and ultimately saw Preston return to the Championship via the play-offs.
He scored Preston’s goal against Manchester United in the FA Cup back in February, putting them ahead against the Red Devils shortly after half time before United hit back with three goals to progress in the competition.
Beginning as a trainee at Plymouth, Scott had a loan spell at Torquay before moving to Stevenage where he spent four-and-a-half years, making over 200 appearances and scoring 20 goals. He then signed for North End in May 2012 and has made nearly a century of appearances in his three year stay, netting seven goals.
After a first season with the Iron which saw him score two goals in 32 league appearances, he and Conor Townsend will continue to battle out for the left-back spot in 2016-17.
