Iron manager Nigel Adkins, SUFC Trust chief executive Lee Turnbull and community officer Scott Maxfield attended a special assembly at Burton-Upon-Stather Primary School on Wednesday.

It was for the celebration of pupils' achievements in sport, in memory of James Neal.

An award was created in honour of James, a passionate fan of Scunthorpe United, who sadly lost his life to Leukaemia in May.

James regularly attended Football in the Community sessions.

Nigel Adkins presented the inaugural James Neal Trophy for Outstanding Sporting Achievement to Thomas Astwood, a keen footballer, cricketer and runner.

Thomas said: "I am so surprised, I really can't believe it and I'm just so pleased."

The runner up trophy was presented to Alex Barratt.

Other sporting achievement awards were handed to Rebecca Day, Jordan Finny and Leo Adamson.
