A late Jamie Bladen goal helped the Iron defeat Leeds United 1-0 at Glanford Park on Tuesday night.

The second year YT slotted home his second goal of the second string season from inside the box, following good work from striker Ben May to send all three points the way of second-placed Scunthorpe.

It was a close match, with chances few and far between, and the hosts should have gone ahead in the first half when Danny Gibbons fired wide.

May then drew a superb save from visiting goalkeeper Jonny Lund after getting himself into a decent goalscoring position.

There were no more major opportunities until Bladen struck the match-winner on 87 minutes.

The Iron are next in action on Tuesday, November 11 when they entertain Hartlepool United (2.00pm kick-off).
