United completed the loan signing of young Manchester City midfielder Donal McDermott until the end of the season.
The Dublin-born player, who was on loan with League Two side Chesterfield earlier in the season, played against United in the Carling Cup first round earlier this season when Scunthorpe defeated the Spireites 2-1.
The 20-year-old netted five times in 15 league appearances for the Spireites before returning to City at the end of October.
