United finalised the signing of left-back Michael Lea in July 2008.
The former Manchester United defender inked a one-year deal, with the option of an extra one in the club's favour, two weeks before the start of the new campaign.
The 20-year-old became Nigel Adkins' fourth signing of the summer following a successful trial spell with the club.
He impressed during pre-season training, and then showed promise in the friendlies at Brigg Town and Doncaster Rovers.
Adkins was quick to offer him a contract, and the Salford-born player was delighted to become an Iron.
Lea rose through the ranks at Manchester United, appearing for the U18 and reserve teams in his time at Old Trafford.
He spent half of last season on loan at Belgian side Royal Antwerp before being released by the Red Devils at the end of last season.
