Forward Chris Dagnall signed for the Iron on a Bosman free transfer from Rochdale in June 2010.
He penned a three-year deal and United also had the option of an extra year in their favour.
The Liverpool-born frontman scored 20 goals in 2009-10 as Dale won automatic promotion from League Two.
In all competitions, he has managed to net 60 strikes in 155 appearances for the Spotland club over the last four years after signing for £15,000 from Tranmere Rovers in 2006.
He began his career with the Prenton Park side at the age of 13 and, after coming through the ranks, notched seven goals in 44 appearances in all competitions.
