The Iron re-signed striker Paul Hayes for a fee of £140,000 in June 2007.
Hayes came back to Glanford Park after a two-year spell at Barnsley. He enjoyed much success in his first season at Oakwell under Andy Ritchie, winning promotion from League One via the play-offs.
However, he fell out of favour under Simon Davey in the second season and jumped at the chance to move back to Scunthorpe.
He started the 2007-08 season in fine form alongside Martin Paterson up front, but - like for the rest of the team - results and form dipped around November.
Hayes was back on track towards the end of the campaign though, scoring five goals in three matches.
2008-09, however, was his best in a United shirt - forming a deadly double act alongside Gary Hooper which plundered 20 goals for him and 30 for his partner.
More than just a goalscorer, Hayes drops back behind the striker and is one of the club's main creative outlets.
Younger brother offormer Arsenal wideman Martin Hayes, he signed originally from Norwich City in 2002 - and enjoyed three successful seasons with the club, scoring 19 goals in a League Two-winning campaign before moving to Barnsley in 2005.
