MATCH PREVIEW: LEEDS UNITED (H)
The Iron host Leeds United for the season opener this Saturday (12.00pm kick-off).
It is the first Football League game to be played in the whole country, and two of the promotion favourites will fight it out in front of a near sell-out Glanford Park crowd.
Scunthorpe have no fresh injury worries, with Garry Thompson (hip), Ben May (achilles) and Gary Hooper (knee) all fit after worries last weekend.
The only players to miss out are goalkeeper Joe Murphy (groin), and defenders Andy Crosby and Joe Wilcox (knee) - as has been the case in recent weeks.
The base of the team is pretty much set-out, with Josh Lillis prepared to start in goal, and Cliff Byrne, captain Izzy Iriekpen, Kenny Milne and Marcus Williams lining up in defence.
It is in midfield and attack where there will be competition for places. One of Garry Thompson, Jonathan Forte and Kevan Hurst could start on the wings, while Matt Sparrow, Grant McCann, Ian Morris and Andrew Wright are in contention for a central midfield place.
Elsewhere, who starts up front from Paul Hayes, Gary Hooper, Ben May and Forte is anybody's guess.
Leeds are at nar full-strength, with only Bradley Johnson (bac) struggling with injury.
Argentinian forward Luciano Becchio (hamstring) will be fit after returning to training on Tuesday.
Jermaine Beckford and Enoch Showunmi look set to start up front for the Whites.
The referee for the match is Lee Probert, with D. Bryan and T. Massey his assistants. O. Langford is the fourth official.
