MATCH PREVIEW: SHEFFIELD UNITED (H)
Posted on: Fri 25 Jul 2008
The Iron ungergo their first home test of pre-season when they host Sheffield United on Saturday (3pm kick-off).
Following three away games, Scunthorpe finalise their warm-up for the new League One campaign with two friendlies at Glanford Park.
With the season opener against Leeds United now just two weeks away, manager Nigel Adkins will aim to give as many of his players match practice as possible.
Set to miss out though are defenders Joe Wilcox and Andy Crosby, both suffering from knee problems.
However, set to make a comeback is Grant McCann, who has missed the pre-season matches so far with a foot injury.
Ready to face a former club are attacking duo Kevan Hurst and Jonathan Forte, both of whom impressed in fixtures against the Blades during last season's Championship campaign.
Billy Sharp is another player poised to take on previous team-mates. An Iron legend, the striker will be looking to continue a fine pre-season by scoring against Scunthorpe for the first time since leaving last summer.

The referee for the game is Graham Laws, with his assistants being Keith Lawson and Scott Duncan. The fourth official is Dave McCallum.
