MATCH PREVIEW: ROTHERHAM UNITED (A)
Posted on: Thu 24 Jul 2008
The Iron face Rotherham United in their new home of Sheffield's Don Valley Stadium for their third and final away friendly of pre-season (7.30pm kick-off).
Following a win at Brigg Town and a draw at Doncaster Rovers, Scunthorpe's final two warm-up games will be played at Glanford Park as the season draws ever closer.
Marcus Williams (pictured) is set to make his first appearance of pre-season on Tuesday night after signing a new two-year contract on Friday.
He sat out the draw with Doncaster, but will have an active part to play in the final three friendly fixtures.
Adkins plans to use all his squad against Mark Robins' men. The only absentee is Grant McCann, who has a foot injury, and won't be risked. Manager Nigel Adkins has said he hopes to see him play against Sheffield United at the weekend.
Trialist Michael Lea should also appear as the club look to seal a permanent deal for the 20-year-old former Manchester United left-back.
Fellow trialists Sam Oji, Mark Byrnes, James Sherman, Brewster Frizzell and Frank Belt have all being released.
