Young Iron defender Ashley Palmer has today joined Blue Square Bet Premier side Southport on loan for one month.

He will go straight into the squad for the trip to Hayes and Yeading United on Saturday afternoon.

The 19-year=old has made two appearances in his short Iron career. 

He made his first start in the 2-0 success over Hartlepool United in this years Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round lasting 84 minutes.

He made his league debut in November of last year when he came on as defensive cover when Oliver Norwood was dismissed in the eventual 3-2 defeat at Notts County.

Southport currently sit eighth in the table, four points off the play-off places.
