The Iron's reserve side were defeated 2-0 by Hartlepool United in their latest totesport.com Central East Division fixture on Wednesday. The two decisive goals came at the end of the first half, as firstly on 38 minutes Peter Hartley's crossfield ball was collected by Colin Larkin, who drove inside before cutting back for Denis Behan who slotted into the back of the net.
Then, four minutes later, Larkin burst down the right and found Billy Blackford, whose shot towards goal was turned in by Michael Mackay.
Behan could even have made it three just before the break but he was denied by away goalkeeper Peter Crook.
After half-time, neither side really looked like adding to the scoring.
Hartlepool's Peter Hartley was first to fire on goal but he saw his effort tipped round the post.
At the other end,
Matt Godden headed against the post before Jon-Andre Fredriksen almost squeezed a shot home near the end, which Crook did well to save.
