IRON WORKING HARD TO STRENGTHEN

Posted on: Sun 22 Aug 2010

Talking after the Iron's 2-0 away defeat at Queens Park Rangers, manager Nigel Adkins confirmed that he is hoping to strengthen his squad before the window for permanent transfers closes on Tuesday, August 31.

While Scunthorpe would still be able to utilise the loan market after that time, Adkins revealed that he and his staff have been working hard on a number of targets over the last few weeks.

"We missed out on a couple of players last week," he explained.

"I'm hoping to hear from a couple of managers this week about some players we've targeted on loan too. They are much soughtafter though so we face strong competition.

"We're doing everything we can to strengthen the group we've got.

"They never stopped working hard on Saturday against a very good QPR side."
