Iron manager Nigel Adkins confirmed it was sickness which ruled defender Rob Jones out of Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers. He admitted after the game that United missed the giant former Grimsby defender, who has been in impressive form so far this season.
"He was fine at 12.30pm in the team hotel," explained the boss. "But he was violently sick on the way to the ground so we had to draft young
Niall Canavan in at the last minute.
"That is why we only had six substitutes."
Fellow centre-back
David Mirfin (lower leg injury) and winger
Garry Thompson (groin) missed out against the Hoops and Adkins admitted afterwards that the pair could be out for much longer than just the one game.
"David's got a soft tissue injury to his lower leg, while Garry's had a scan on his groin injury.
"Both players are struggling and we don't know how long they will be out for.
"It is something we will have to assess on Monday when the players return to training."
Left-back
Jim McNulty, meanwhile, was substituted late in the loss at Loftus Road after 'going over on his ankle'. He too will be assessed on Monday.
