ADKINS GIVES HOOPER UPDATE

Posted on: Sat 24 Jul 2010
Speaking after the 1-0 friendly win over Sheffield Wednesday, manager Nigel Adkins confirmed striker Gary Hooper could be set to join Scottish Premier League side Celtic.

The frontman has been heavily linked with a move away all summer, and he is yet to play in a pre-season match for the Iron so as to avoid injury.

"I did plan to play Gary today for 45 minutes," he told The Iron Player.

"Obviously I'm aware of the situation that's arising and I didn't want to risk anything.

"The fact of the matter is he hasn't signed for anybody yet and as everyone knows, there are a lot of things to be done before he signs a piece of paper.

"It's fair to say though that a situation has arisen where he will probably end up at another football club.

"But until that happens we've just got to bat on as best we can."

See much more from Nigel Adkins and Michael Collins on The Iron Player.

Highlights will be available late on Saturday evening too.

There will also be video interviews with Rob Jones and Joe Murphy online from Monday morning.
