The Iron emerged 1-0 victors in their fourth friendly of pre-season at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
Jonathan Forte scored in the first half to seal a fourth successive success for Nigel Adkins' side.
The game got off to a slow start, with Tommy Miller of Sheffield Wednesday having the first real chance of the game 12 minutes in. He volleyed just wide of goal as the ball was just partly cleared.
Soon after Scunthorpe came close as Garry Thompson's header was tipped away from goal after Josh Wright's free-kick delivery found him.
He then had another go at goal shortly after, but his shot at goal was too tame.
It didn't take long for Scunthorpe to go ahead, however, as Forte burst through, latching on to Chris Dagnall's pass and crashing the ball low into the goalkeeper's bottom left-hand corner for his third goal of pre-season.
He was close again just three minutes later, but he didn't catch his volley quite right and shotstopper Richard O'Donnell saved it.

The Owls hit the crossbar in the 24th minute when Marcus Tudgay's half-volley from the edge of the area cannoned back into play off the upright - to the relief of Iron goalkeeper
Joe Murphy.

There were few chances in the first half, with most the play taking place in the heart of midfield, but Thompson had a chance just before the break, shooting wide of goal with a low strike from the edge of the area.
Then, in first half stoppage time, Forte's low drive from the left-hand side of the 18-yard box was saved by O'Donnell at his near post.
Scunthorpe re-emerged for the second half having made no changes at the break.
Woolford, Thompson and Forte combined with great effect to create a decent chance five minutes into the second half. With Thompson playing in the ex-Sheffield United man in on the left before his low shot across goal was kept out by the feet of O'Donnell.
Not long after, Dagnall swung a left-footed shot wide after Woolford's cross had only been partly cleared.
Then, from
Josh Wright's corner,
Rob Jones headed over the crossbar as the chances kept coming one way.
Forte, who was continuing to impress, worked his way into a good position on the edge of the area before striking an effort which O'Donnell tipped out.
There was a raft of changes for the hosts as the game edged towards its climax, and Woolford came close again soon after with a volleyed effort from the left-hand side of the area.
Scunthorpe held on comfortably, and are next in action on Tuesday night when they visit York City (7.45pm kick-off).
