WE'LL DO EVERYTHING WE CAN - ADKINS

Posted on: Mon 15 Mar 2010

Iron manager Nigel Adkins wasn't too down after seeing his side fall into the bottom three of the Championship with a 1-0 defeat at Ipswich Town on Saturday.

Connor Wickham fired in a late winner in the second minute of stoppage time to see off United at Portman Road.

Had they held on for a point they would have stayed out the bottom three but, as a result, they now drop into it for the first time since the opening day of the season.

"We'll have a little break and we'll refocus," said Adkins, speaking on The Iron Player.

"There is a resillience about the players to achieve this season.

"Nobody expects us to achieve anything but we do, and we will.

"We've got to pick ourselves up and go again.

"We viewed this as a new league with 12 games to go and we have 11 left now.

"Everyone thought we'd be in the bottom three for the whole of the season.

"What we've done is give ourselves an opportunity of survival.

"We can play good football but sometimes, like on Saturday, we have to go out to try and nullify the opposition.

"We went to West Bromwich Albion and passed them off the pitch, but you have to get results.

"We want to stay in the Championship and we'll do everything we can to try and get points."

"The fact of the matter is that it's all about winning. We didn't win

"We will regroup again for Newcastle away on Wednesday. It's a great one for the supporters to relish.

"Nobody will give us a chance of getting something there, but we believe we can."
