Iron manager Nigel Adkins does not know yet whether leading scorer Gary Hooper will be fit for Wednesday night's away clash with Newcastle United.

The 13-goal frontman sat out Saturday's away defeat at Ipswich Town with a groin injury, one which he has carried for a while according to the boss.

"We will have to wait and regarding Wednesday," he explained.

"I'd like to think he would be fit for the remaining home games."

Northern Ireland international midfielder Michael O'Connor will return from a three-match suspension at St James' Park.
