Scunthorpe United v Barnsley
at Glanford Park
Tuesday, February 16, 2010 - 7.45pm

Iron manager Nigel Adkins was giving no clues away when asked his team news ahead of Tuesday night's home Championship encounter with Barnsley at Glanford Park.

United take on the Tykes bidding to bounce back from three straight league defeats which have left them just one point and a place away from the bottom three.

Barnsley themselves have lost their last two games so a thrilling game will be in store between two teams keen to gain momentum and climb away from any relegation danger.

Whether Scunthorpe make any changes or not to the side thoroughly thumped 5-1 at Leicester City on Saturday remains to be seen.

The likes of Martyn Woolford, Andrew Wright, Matt Sparrow and Donal McDermott will all be hoping to return to the starting eleven, however.

Definitely out for Scunthorpe is captain Cliff Byrne, who serves the final game of a two-match ban, while Garry Thompson is still absent with a hamstring injury.

Defender Brendan Moloney, on loan from Nottingham Forest, won't be back at Glanford Park this season after he was ruled out for the rest of the campaign by his parent club with the medial ligament damage suffered at West Bromwich Albion last week.

The Tykes could be without midfielder Emil Hallfredsson, on loan for the season from Reggina, who is a doubt after picking up a knock.

They are also missing striker Iain Hume, who sustained a hamstring injury on Friday and had to sit out the 3-1 defeat by Plymouth Argyle at Oakwell on Saturday. He is out for a fortnight.

On-loan Burnley youngster Jay Rodriguez came into the side for Hume so he could start again, although Daniel Bogdanovich and Jon Macken are also in contention.

The Tykes will also be without defender Ryan Shotton as he sits out the third game of a four-match ban.

The referee for the match is Colin Webster.
