ADKINS LOOKING FORWARD, NOT BACK
Posted on: Fri 12 Feb 2010
Iron manager Nigel Adkins is not fazed by his team's current Championship position heading into this weekend's away clash at Leicester City.
United travel to the Foxes sitting just one point and one place above the division's drop zone, but a win could haul them back up to 16th - that's how tight a division it is.
A favourable result at the Walkers Stadium would be a great way to head into three successive home games within a week, starting with the home clash against Barnsley on Tuesday.
However, it will be tough going against the division's sixth-placed side on their home turf.
"It's a game that we believe we can get three points from," insisted Adkins, speaking on The Iron Player.
"We stay in the here and the now and we're looking forward to the game against Leicester.
"If we can keep taking care of business with our performances we will get the results.
"The pitch is going to be very heavy, they're getting crowds of 20,000-plus and they will be expecting to win it.
"They're in the play-off positions and are trying to get themselves promoted.
"All the pressure is on them because they're expected to beat us.
"We're looking totally at the points side of things.
"We'll take it one game at a time and work through the process goals to win that game.
"We have a lot of games to play. There are a lot of fixtures we believe we can win, especially at home.
"We're looking at the positives. We're very close to the first page of Ceefax, which means we're near the top half.
"There is a group of us on the same amount of points, and there's a group within three points of each other.
"We may be very close but if you look at the points total, it's going to change and it will change very quickly.
"We believe we can win a lot of our remaining games.
"As a club we don't look back, we look forward."
