United have decided to launch an appeal against Cliff Byrne's red card at West Bromwich Albion.

The defender was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Andy Slory in the closing stages of the win over the Baggies.

After reviewing video evidence, the club have decided to try and get the card overturned.

Because it is his second red card of the season, Byrne would be banned for two games.

The suspension was due to start when the Iron visit Leicester on Saturday but he could now play if the decision is overturned on Thursday.

It is set to be heard by the FA's appeals panel on Thursday afternoon.
