Manager Nigel Adkins was pleased with the work-out his side received in their 1-1 pre-season friendly draw at Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday night.United led through Grant McCann's penalty soon after kick-off, but the Northern Ireland international missed another spot-kick a short while later.
Ash Burberry levelled for the home team in the second-half as parity was restored.
Adkins was pleased that all 21 players used came through the night unscathed.
"It was a very competitive game for us," Adkins told
The Iron Player.
"The rain came down and the pitch was fantastic - it was beautiful.
"Gainsborough played very well and we knew it was the right game for us at this stage of pre-season.
"They've got a team full of professionals and it was a good battle.
"We managed to give the senior professionals and the younger boys a game, so we mixed that around and that was pleasing.
"We could have scored a lot more goals than we did but at the end of the day it was an excellent work-out for us."
Adkins added that there are no fresh injury worries, other than David Mirfin, as his team head into their next game - at Lincoln City in the final of the Lincolnshire Senior Cup at Sincil Bank - on Thursday night.
