TOGWELL RECOVERING FROM OPERATION

Posted on: Mon 13 Jul 2009

Midfielder Sam Togwell missed Saturday's pre-season friendly at Bottesford Town because he is recovering from an operation, boss Nigel Adkins revealed after the game.

He and Garry Thompson, who played in the second half of the 2-1 victory at Birch Park, both had hernia operations just before the start of pre-season.

It is hoped that the former Barnsley ball-winner Togwell will feature in one of his side's three friendlies against local sides this week.

Striker Gary Hooper missed the game after getting blisters on his feet and wasn't risked, while midfielder Ian Morris was unavailable after need stitches for a cut sustained in training.

Centre-back Kenny Milne, recovering from a knee injury which ruled him out for almost all of last season, wasn't risked as United co0ntinue to nurse him through pre-season.
