Iron transfer target Anthony Gerrard completed a move to Championship rivals Cardiff City for an undisclosed fee on Thursday night.

The Walsall defender, who has made over 170 appearances since joining from Everton, was the subject of a rejected bid from United.

The Saddlers revealed this on their club website on Thursday morning, just hours before his move to the Bluebirds.

His first league game for Cardiff could come against Scunthorpe in the Championship season opener on Saturday, August 8.
