The Iron have been drawn to host Chesterfield at Glanford Park in the first round of the 2009-10 season's Carling Cup.

The game is scheduled to take place on the week beginning Monday, August 10.

It will be the first time Scunthorpe have faced the Spireites in a competitive match since December 2006 when Billy Sharp's goal ensured a 1-0 Boxing Day victory for a United team who went on to win the league.

For the last two seasons Scunthorpe have drawn Hartlepool - they lost 2-1 at home in 2007 and 3-0 away in 2008.

They last progressed past the opening round in 2006 when they defeated Lincoln City 4-3 in the first round after extra time.

Scunthorpe will find out all their Championship fixture dates for the season on Wednesday at 10.00am.
