CHAMPIONSHIP DATES ARE SET
The 2009-10 Coca-Cola Championship fixture list is released this week - and Scunthorpe-United.co.uk can reveal the outlined dates for fixtures in the forthcoming campaign.
The provisional dates - to be firmed up when the fixture list is released at 10.00am on Wednesday (June 17) - show when games will take place in the upcoming 2009-10 season.
Some key points of note are...
-The season begins on Saturday, August 8 and ends on Saturday, May 2.
-No game on New Year's Day or Eve; the FA Cup third round takes place on Saturday, January 2.
-Free international weekends on Saturday, September 5, Saturday, October 10 and Saturday, November 14.
-Two games over the Easter weekend, Saturday, April 3 and Monday, April 5, but only one on the August bank holiday weekend; Saturday, August 29.
-The Championship has ten midweek fixtures.
-March is the busiest month for League matches, with six in place. January has four, all others five.
-The Championship play-off final is on a Saturday and takes place a week before the League One and League Two finals. This is a result of World Cup 2010; the cut-off period to be included in a World Cup squad is Wednesday 26 May and the play-off final has to be before then.
The club is keen to stress these dates are only an outline for the upcoming campaign, and they could be subject to change when the official fixture list is released.
The complete list of provisional dates for games is below. Please note that when games are listed as Wednesday, it simply signifies they will be midweek. Traditionally, more of Scunthorpe's midweek games take place on a Tuesday than a Wednesday.
