United will kick off their 2009-10 pre-season campaign with a trip to Bottesford Town on Saturday, July 11 (3.00pm kick-off).

The match is set to take place at Birch Park as manager Nigel Adkins and his side take a low key approach to the start of pre-season.

The players will come back on July 1 and get some fitness work done during the week and a half leading up to the clash with Bottesford.

Owing to the fact that Scunthorpe's season just gone finished three weeks after most other clubs, the boss has confirmed that he will name a team mixed with first and youth team players during the first few matches.

The second friendly takes place at Winterton Rangers (7.00pm kick-off) on Tuesday, July 14, while the Iron will then play their annual fixture at Brigg Town (7.00pm kick-off) two days later on Thursday, July 16.

They visit Barton on the following Saturday, July 18 (3.00pm kick-off).

Grimsby Town are the opponents for the Lincolnshire Senior Cup semi-final on Monday, July 20 (7.00pm kick-off) at Blundell Park.

The players are then set to head off to Jersey for a short pre-season training camp, and the management team hope to arrange a game or two to play during their time there.

Upon their return to North Lincolnshire, United will visit Gainsborough Trinity on Tuesday, July 28 (7.30pm kick-off).

The Lincolnshire Senior Cup final, which Scunthorpe hope to be involved in, is scheduled to be played two days later against Lincoln City, with the venue yet to be confirmed.

The final game of pre-season is against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Glanford Park on Tuesday, August 4 (7.30pm kick-off).
