Manager Nigel Adkins is busy planning the Club's assault on the Championship and that includes easing his side back into pre-season training.

"We were well aware of the potential of going to the play-offs leaving a short recovery period after a long season of 60 games" Adkins told the Scunthorpe Telegraph.

"Players will come back in various stages of fitness and recovery.

"Some will be getting over injuries they have been carrying, others who have not played so many games will be wanting to be super fit.

"It is important to us to support our local teams in what will be a low intensity start to our pre-season.

"I want to mix the youth team players and senior players."

The Iron will head off to Jersey for a training camp on the 21st of July where they will play at least one fixture.

"We will play a Jersey XI and we had hoped to play another game against a French team, but they have pulled out, explained the United boss.

"We will see if we can arrange another game, but if not, we will make full use of the excellent training facilities there and the trip will be excellent for team bonding again.

"Going to Jersey will help us get focused on the Championship and we will increase the intensity of our pre-season work when we get back.

"We have got the game with Wolves and I had hoped to play Birmingham too, but they have changed their pre-season arrangements at the last minute.

"We had also arranged for a Newcastle XI to come to Glanford Park, but that has now obviously had to be scrapped.
