Joe Bowden presents a minute-by-minute report from the Walkers Stadium:

19:15 The Walkers Stadium, home of the 2008/2009 season Coca-Cola Football League 1 Champions, Leicester City Football Club, is where we are based tonight, for The Iron's final away match of the campaign. Whilst at the final whistle tonight, Leicester will be lifting the league trophy to officially assert their status as league champions, bringing joy to what is a full-house of vibrant Foxes supporters; United will be hoping to have something of their own to celebrate - a return to the playoff positions, which can be achieved by attaining either a win or a draw in this evening's fixture.

19:30 In terms of personnel, The Iron possess almost a full squad to choose from this evening; with the exceptions of Kenny Milne (long-term knee injury), and Marcus Williams (who has a virus). Therefore, the teams will begin as follows:

Leicester City: Stockdale, Edworthy, Morrison, Hobbs, Powell, Oakley (c), Dyer, King, Gradel, Fryatt, Howard.

Substitutes: Ajdarevic, Dickov, Berner, Mattock, Warner.

Scunthorpe United: Murphy, Byrne (c), Wright, Pearce, Mirfin, Woolford, McCann, Trotter, Hayes, Hooper, Sparrow.

Substitutes: Lillis, Mills, Togwell, May, Lansbury.

Referee: Mr. M. Heywood (West Yorkshire)

19:43: The teams are welcomed onto the pitch, to the sound of a particularly loud round of applause. The two teams then line-up to shake hands, and then proceed into their positions on the pitch…

First-Half:

2 Minutes: Paul Hayes takes the ball in his stride up-front, and swivels around a little before placing it into the path of Gary Hooper… But Hooper's shoved from possession by Chris Powell, the Leicester left-back. However, this break came about after Leicester made a more fluid start to proceedings than The Iron.

6 Minutes: Jack Hobbs makes an error at the back, and allows Gary Hooper to get in on the Leicester goal. David Stockdale saves, after Hooper overruns the ball a little and can only manage to poke a tame effort at goal.

7 Minutes: United are moving into their flow a little now, and are looking like the better side of the two, in all honesty. On the seventh minute, their game plan suffers a blow, however, when they are forced to replace Andrew Wright (who was cut following an aerial challenge with Max Gradel) with Joseph Mills.

12 Minutes: Matty Fryatt angles a shot at-goal, after Max Gradel aligns the ball across the pitch for him. Fryatt hammers his shot across Joe Murphy, but United's goalkeeper makes a stunning save.

15 Minutes: Leicester are looking more dangerous now… and duly take the lead. A corner is planted into the box, causing mayhem for the United defence, and after a couple of players stab a toe at it, Michael Robinson gets the significant touch.

18 Minutes: Joseph Mills falls down in a heap (and by the looks of it, in some pain) after Steve Howard and him duelled for the ball. As it materialised, neither of them won it; but I just wonder if Howard may used an arm to gain some leverage off Mills then.

23 Minutes: Hooper and Hayes show some fantastic interchange to release Hayes on a run. However, with the phenomenal size of the Leicester pitch, Hayes is soon caught up, and as he tries to cut the ball back to Martyn Woolford (who is unmarked at the far post, and had he received the ball would almost certainly have scored), it bobbles off a Leicester defender, and back into the palms of David Stockdale.

28 Minutes: Joe Murphy is absolutely livid after Steve Howard challenges the Irishman for a ball that is bouncing loose between the two players. Howard sends Murphy crashing to the floor as a result, after slicing through his legs. Murphy immediately confronts Howard, I guess saying something such as "That could've broken my leg", and the tackle itself is one of those that every goalkeeper and striker would have a contrasting opinion on. Howard is booked. From a neutral perspective, that's probably the right decision - the tackle was a foul, but assertive rather than aggressive.

33 Minutes: There's a mini-scuffle on the pitch after Paul Hayes makes a tackle Chris Powell, who responds by grabbing Hayes' shirt and shoving him around. Rightfully, Powell is booked.

42 Minutes: Leicester win a free-kick in a dangerous position, just outside the area, slightly left of centre. Max Graden curls it towards goal, but Joe Murphy dives to his right to catch the ball.

44 Minutes: United win a free-kick now, along the edge of the 18-yard area. It's struck slightly over the bar, as Paul Hayes has a shot from it.

45 Minutes: Matty Fryatt flaunts his way into the area, and then turns Joe Murphy, and looks destined to score… but Joseph Mills positions himself on the goal line to keep Fryatt at bay. The rebound falls to Lloyd Dyer, who rattles the crossbar with a venomous effort.

Half-Time:

20:37: United aren't playing badly this evening, and they're certainly not been outplayed - so I feel that they might just get something from this game. The only problem is that Leicester are a very accomplished team, especially in attack, and look dangerous every time that they stride forward. In the second period, United need to defend resiliently, and take anything that comes their way, because in the first period, they have let more than one potentially promising chance pass them by.

20:53: The Iron make a half-time substitution. Gary Hooper was limping a little during the first-half, and Nigel Adkins has clearly decided not to risk him - as he replaces him with the lively Henri Lansbury.

Second-Half:

48 Minutes: The ball drops for Matty Fryatt in the area, and the striker shows a neat touch to scoop it to the floor. He then looks to pull the trigger, until David Mirfin comes across to make a wonderful tackle.

52 Minutes: Grant McCann floats a free-kick over the crossbar from what was pretty much a perfect position. It was awarded after Henri Lansbury took on two defenders, before been unceremoniously floored via an aggressive shoulder charge.

56 Minutes: Woolford gets the ball near the corner flag, and surges inside his marker to slip the ball into the feet of Paul Hayes. Hayes takes one touch to bring the ball neatly under control and twizzle off his marker, before nestling a shot into the bottom left corner of the net.

60 Minutes: United are on the attack… It concludes with Martyn Woolford rolling the ball into Grant McCann's territory, and the Northern Irishman shooting high and wide of the target from outside the penalty area.

62 Minutes: Leicester substitutions: Chris Powell and Marc Edworthy leave the field; to be replaced by Astrit Ajdarevic Bruno Berner.

63 Minutes: United win a penalty as a result of a trip in the area on Paul Hayes by Bruno Berner, who's only been on the field for a few moments. Grant McCann steps up to take the penalty, and greeted by a chorus of boos, places the ball beyond David Stockworthy to put United ahead… It's as if somebody has pressed the 'mute' button on over 90% of the supporters in the stadium!

Leicester City 1 Scunthorpe United 2

67 Minutes: Henri Lansbury sneaks around some of the Leicester defence to send a drive at goal, which rebounds into the path of Cliff Byrne - who sends a half-volley spiralling past the post from a narrow angle.

73 Minutes: Leicester are probing a little, but United are holding well at the moment.

75 Minutes: To be honest, I wouldn't say that it's been coming, but Leicester get the leveller. The ball is propped across the box, and it just happens that Michael Morrison gets his head to it, to direct the ball into the bottom corner of the net, far out of Joe Murphy's grasp. How will United respond? It truly is fight or flight now.

78 Minutes: Leicester's Max Gradel is substituted. Paul Dickov replaces him.

82 Minutes: This game is getting a little fluctuant now. For a couple of minutes after Leicester scored, it was all The Foxes; but now, United are experiencing a period of ascendancy. It could still go either way, or neither way.

85 Minutes: In a saddening development, David Mirfin is the victim of an awkward tackle, and has to be stretchered from the field of play. He is to be replaced by Sam Togwell.

90 Minutes: The referee adds four minutes of stoppage time onto the game. It's United who are looking the sharper at the moment, and to be bold, look the most capable of scoring. As I begin to type this, Henri Lansbury miss- controls a ball, that if he had have taken in his stride, would probably have resulted in him been in on-goal.

93 Minutes: And typically, as soon as I write that Leicester go and win a corner. It's boxed, but Trotter escapes with it. Pearce then joins the attack, as The Iron bombard forward. The move ends when Lansbury miss-controls again. The full-time whistle is then blown.

Full-Time:

Leicester City 2 Scunthorpe United 2

21:44: So, as Leicester go off to lift the trophy, United do have something to celebrate - a return to the play-off places; and rightfully so, as in fairness, a draw at the League Champions a very credible result.
