One young Iron fan has booked his place to represent the club in the final of the Football League's young reporter competition.
Our official website and The Iron matchday magazine ran a special competition inviting all budding journalists to submit a report on a United game.
The competition was introduced as part of the Football League's Fans of the Future scheme, designed to encourage more young supporters to engage with the sport.
Our judges whittled down the entries - all of which were at a very high standard - and eventually settled on 13-year-old James Moody from Scunthorpe. He impressed with his account of the 1-0 Johnstone's Paint Trophy Northern Area final second leg win over Rotherham United at the Don Valley Stadium back in February.
James will enjoy a special day in the press box at a forthcoming home game and will also be a mascot for the Good Friday home clash with Huddersfield Town at Glanford Park.
His entry will also be submitted to the Football League for consideration for the overall prize - the chance to report on a senior game at Wembley.
Here's his winning report below...
A solitary goal from leading marksman Gary Hooper was enough to send Scunthorpe United to Wembley for the first time since Alex Calvo-Garcia's play-off final goal against Leyton Orient in 1999.
United won 3-0 over the two legs to set up the dream date to Wembley Stadium on Sunday 5th April.
There was just one change going into the match with Sam Togwell finally making his comeback to that starting eleven at the expense of Matt Sparrow, who dropped to the bench. New loan signing from Arsenal, Henri Lansbury, was eligible to play, as he settled for a place on the bench. Rotherham United made two changes going into the second leg with Drewe Broughton returning from suspension and Marc Joseph replacing cup-tied Jamie Clarke and Simon Thomas, who settled for a place on the bench.
Rotherham had to take the game to United if they wanted to overhaul the 2 goal disadvantage that they suffered in the first leg and they did, in the first ten minutes. However, it was Scunthorpe who had the first shot on target. After a long spell of Rotherham and Scunthorpe throw-ins Gary Hooper had a snap-shot from outside the area saved easily by Millers' goalkeeper Andy Warrington.
As the first half went on Scunthorpe were firmly in control of the tie and they believed that they could go all the way. They seemed to play with four up front constantly as Rotherham persistently failed to clear the ball.
Scunthorpe then unsettled the home goalkeeper as he just managed to tip Garry Thompson's goal-bound effort over the crossbar. From the resulting corner there was a short scrap in the box and then the ball was eventually cleared out for a throw-in.
On 25 minutes Grant McCann found space 18 yards out and planted a shot just narrowly over the roof of the net.
The only shot that Rotherham could create in the first half came on 35 minutes when Marc Joseph's throw-in was punched clear by Iron stopper Joe Murphy. Pablo Mills then struck the ball back towards the goal only for him to see it blocked by a defender on the line.
There was time for one more effort from Martyn Woolford before the break but his effort went narrowly wide. This kept United firmly in the driving seat 2-0 up on aggregate and just 45 minutes away from Wembley.
Rotherham knew that if they were to be successful in reaching Wembley they would have to do something different in the second half. Millers' manager made a double half time substitution in a bid to do exactly that. Jason Taylor and Drew Broughton were withdrawn and Michael Cummins and Simon Thomas took their place.
Rotherham thought the change had paid off directly after the restart when Reuben Reid crossed for new-comer Simon Thomas who headed straight in Murphy's hands.
Rotherham seemed to be taking control of the early stages of the second half and nearly pulled a goal back through Thomas on 51 minutes. Fortunately, for the visitors it cleared the crossbar.
Scunthorpe's first meaningful effort of the second half came on 60 minutes when a throw-in from club-captain Cliff Byrne eventually found its way to Garry Thompson who fired over from 15 yards.
Scunthorpe then regained their confidence and began to play like a team worthy of a place in the Championship. Woolford, a prominent figure throughout the two legs controlled a ball and then rifled a magnificent effort from outside of the penalty area. With Andy Warrington helpless, the ball smashed against the crossbar and came back out into play and with the bar still shaking Matt Sparrow blazed the rebound high and wide.
United's next chance fell to Grant McCann on 69 minutes. He hit the ball wide of the left stick from 20 yards out.
Just five minutes later the Iron secured their place at Wembley when Hooper ran from the half way line and single-handedly took on the entire Rotherham defence before slotting the ball under Warrington right in front of the travelling supporters who went mad. This was Hooper's last contribution to the game as Henri Lansbury replaced him on 84 minutes.
The last chance of the game fell to Rotherham and Michael Cummings whose shot went wide after Murphy had cleared the ball with a punch.
Nevertheless, nothing could stop Scunthorpe United's players, supporters and backroom staff celebrating a place at Wembley at the final whistle. United will play against Luton Town at Wembley after they triumphed 4-3 on penalties at home to Brighton.
