Leeds United boss Gary McAllister is looking forward to taking his side to Glanford Park on the opening day of the 2008-09 League One campaign.

The Whites are the Iron's first opponents in what should be a thrilling season opener, and McAllister expects a tough test from the recently relegated Iron.

"Scunthorpe should be a good game to start with," he told leedsunited.com.

"They played Championship football last season, and obviously suffered relegation. But they will be a tough competitive side who will want to do well.

"The new teams in this division are predominantly footballing teams which should make for some good games."

"It's always exciting," he added. "As a player and a fan it's always an exciting day because you can look ahead."
