Sheffield United striker Geoff Horsfield, who spent the final three months of the season with the Iron, has been released by his parent club.

The 34-year-old forward returned to Bramall Lane after a loan spell at Glanford Park in which he made 12 appearances, scoring no goals.

The veteran hitman will be searching for a new club during the summer now as he seeks to prolong a career which started at Halifax Town, and took in spells at Fulham, Birmingham, Wigan, West Brom, Sheffield United, Leeds and Leicester in addition to Scunthorpe.
