HAYES WINS VOTE
Striker Paul Hayes has been chosen as man of the match by readers of www.scunthorpe-united.co.uk after Sunday's 3-3 home draw with Colchester United.
The 24-year-old forward scored twice on the final day of the season to take his tally for the campaign up to eight goals.
The forward, who scored the winner against the U's at Layer Road earlier this season, netted a double in the second-half, after Colchester had gone 3-1 up, to earn a point for the hosts.
The visiting team had gone ahead through Kevin McLeod, but Jonathan Forte soon levelled.
After a two-goal blast from Vernon and McLeod at the start of the second period, it seemed that all three points would be heading down to Essex.
But Hayes had the final say, with two efforts from inside the area restoring parity.
Jack Cork is way ahead at the top of the leaderboard for the season with nine wins, and Andy Butler is second after winning the award on seven occasions.
Joe Murphy is in third position after taking it four times, while Izzy Iriekpen, Jim Goodwin, Martin Paterson and Kelly Youga are tied in fourth, after winning on three occasions each.
Hayes, Jack Hobbs, Ian Morris and Cliff Byrne have been top twice, while Forte,Ben May, Grant McCann and Geoff Horsfield have secured the accolade once.
