Left-winger Kevan Hurst may have fired his way back into first-team contention with a brace of goals in Tuesday's 2-1 home reserve win over Darlington.

Following a goalless first half, the visitors managed to take the lead just after the interval. However, the former Sheffield United man soon levelled.

Then, five minutes from time, he curled a right-footed effort around the goalkeeper from the left-hand side of the penalty area to seal the win.

This result continues a decent run for the second string, who have lost just one fixture since the turn of the year.

A number of other senior players, including Paul Hayes, Marcus Williams and Izzy Iriekpen, all benefited from the match practice.

The reserves are next in action on Wednesday, April 9 when they face Hull City away at Winterton Rangers.
