United have doubts over Grant McCann and Marcus Williams ahead of the home fixture against Ipswich Town on Saturday (3pm kick-off).

McCann injured his knee over the course of the last two matches, and boss Nigel Adkins says he will make a late decision on the midfielder.

Should the 27-year-old miss out, Jack Cork or Matt Sparrow may slot in alongside Jim Goodwin.

Left-back Williams has a hamstring problem and did not train on Thursday, however Adkins is hopeful he can recover in time to be in contention to face the Tractor Boys.

Another absentee is Cliff Byrne, who is still struggling with a leg injury.

Elsewhere, there are no fresh worries for the hosts. Although the likes of Curtis Weston, Paul Hayes, Jonathan Forte, Jack Hobbs and Kevan Hurst will be pushing for starting places.

Izzy Iriekpen is back in contention after recovering from the illness which ruled him out of the match at Wolves in midweek.

Six points adrift from safety, Scunthorpe know they need to win their home fixtures now if they are to survive.

But, buoyed by two straight successes at Glanford Park, there is a confidence in the air as play-off chasing Ipswich come to town.
