SECOND STRING SUFFER POOLS LOSS

Posted on: Wed 28 Nov 2007

United's reserves were defeated 3-1 by their Hartlepool United counterparts at Glanford Park on Wednesday afternoon.

An Iron side featuring the likes of Dave Mulligan, Ian Morris, Daniel McBreen and Alex Morfaw started the match well, and it was young forward Peter Winn who put them ahead early in the first-half, as a low cross was sent into the area and deflected in off the second string top scorer.

Michael Rae equalised for the visitors on the half-hour mark though, and added to his tally just before the break by beating the offside trap.

Hartlepool wrapped up their win with 15 minutes remaining as Matty Tyrnon slotted home a rebound after Tom Pressman could only parry out Rae's shot.

United are next in reserve action when they visit Darlington on Wednesday.
