RESERVES BEATEN AT HILLSBOROUGH

Posted on: Tue 30 Oct 2007

United's reserves lost 4-1 against their Sheffield Wednesday counterparts at Hillsborough on Tuesday afternoon.

A youthful Scunthorpe team were defeated by a far more experienced Owls side, who went ahead inside two minutes through Kenny Lunt - who curled a free kick past Craig Turner.

And they doubled their advantage on 30 minutes through Esajan Esajas, a substitute in last week's first team game between the two teams, who advanced on goal from the left and fired low past the Iron 'stopper.

However, United pulled a goal back five minutes later when Joel Barnett (pictured right) headed home a corner from Ben Porter.

Scunthorpe kept pressing for an equaliser but Wednesday added to their score ten minutes from time through Charlie Tunnard, after he was played through by Yoann Folly.

Then, five minutes from time, Rocky Lekaj finished the Iron off from close range.
