IZZY FACING THREE-MATCH BAN

Posted on: Wed 24 Oct 2007

Defender Izzy Iriekpen is facing three match suspension after being dismissed in the reserves match with Grimsby Town.

Iriekpen was shown a straight red card for violent conduct during the match against the Mariners at Glanford Park.

The defender was punished for a headbutt on Grimsby's Nathan Jarman early in the first half and now faces a three-match first-team ban.

Usually cards received in reserve matches only count in non first team games, however a red card for violent conduct does mean a first-team ban.

Unlike the immediate ban players suffer when they receive a red card in first team matches, suspensions for non first team matches take 14 days to kick in which means the defender will miss Blackpool away, Hull at home and Coventry away.
