SCUNTHORPE UNITED RES 1-3 HULL CITY RES

Posted on: Tue 11 Sep 2007

The Iron's reserve team went down to their first defeat of the season, losing 3-1 at the hands of local rivals Hull City.

United had drawn and won their previous two games, but came up against a strong side from across the Humber.

A big crowd, and plenty of press, turned out for the match, with Tigers' star midfielder Jay-Jay Okocha making his debut for the visitors.

Wowing the away supporters with some neat touches early on, the midfielder put his team ahead after 10 minutes.

Fellow former Bolton team-mate Henrik Pedersen doubled the advantage before Iron forward Jonathan Forte (top right) pulled a goal back.

It came after good work from Cleveland Taylor on the edge of the box, his shot was saved, but Forte fired home the rebound from close range.

Hopes of an Iron fightback were dashed though when WIll Atkinson made it three for Hull.
