Released United forward Ramon Calliste has missed out on a contract at League Two side Wycombe Wanderers following a trial.
"It's tough for triallists to come in and stamp their authority on the game but that's the game," said Chairboys' boss Paul Lambert about the 22-year-old striker, who scored in his side's 5-0 win over Holmer Green on Wednesday.
Calliste's cousin, Wycombe hitman Jermaine Easter, was sad to see to relative miss out on a chance at Adams Park.
He said: "He's more than good enough to play at this level. You don't get to be at Liverpool and Manchester United as a kid without being any good.
"The manager was going to sign a striker so why not my cousin?
"He was going to bring competition in from somewhere so I thought it might as well be Ramon. I'm not frightened by the competition. I'm confident in my ability no matter who the manager brings in."
