PRESS TALK: O'CONNOR SAYS IRON NEED TO BOOST GOAL THREAT

Posted on: Mon 07 Sep 2009
Michael O'Connor says he and his colleagues in the Iron's midfield engine room need to start chipping in with more goals.

Talking to the Scunthorpe Telegraph, the Northern Ireland international admits that the club's 'goals scored' tally of three in the first trio of matches for the season isn't good enough, and he says it is something United are striving to improve.

"We need to keep playing well and start scoring goals all over the pitch," he told the newspaper.

"We've only scored a few in the league, which has surprised me a little bit because our attacking play is supposed to be our strongest side.

"We're doing all right going forward, we just can't get the ball in the net. But it will come and when it does, hopefully it will keep coming and we'll get the goals."
